Privacy policy
What happens with your data? Here’s what you need to know.
Which personnal data are collected and why
Comments
When you leave a comment on this site, I collect the data shown in the comments form, as well as your IP address and browser user agent string to help with spam detection.
An anonymised string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. Gravatar’s privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. Once your comment is approved, your profile picture is visible to the public alongside your comment.
Contact form
When you contact me via the contact form, I collect and store your message, the name of your company (if applicable), your name, and your email address so that I can respond to your request.
Cookies
If you leave a comment on this site, you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. Cookies expire after one year.
I don’t use Google Analytics on this website. I use Matomo Analytics, which I set up to not collect any cookies.
Content of third-party websites
This website may include embedded content (videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from third-party websites functions the same way as if you visited the respective third-party website.
These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and/or monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.
How long your data are stored
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are stored indefinitely. This is how I can recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
When you contact me via the contact form, I collect and store your message, the name of your company (if applicable), your name and your email address so that I can respond to your request. I store this data for as long as it is necessary for the purposes of responding to your request.
Your data rights
If you contact me via the contact form or leave a comment on this website, you can request an exported file of the personal data held about you, including any data you have provided to me. You can also request that I erase any personal data I hold about you. This does not include any data I am required to keep for administrative, legal, or safety purposes.
Transmission of your data
Your comments can be verified via an automated spam detection service. Otherwise, your personal data are not transmitted to any third party.
